Iris Technology Names Dr. Carl Kirkconnell as Chief Technology Officer
International expert to drive Iris' next phase of growth and expansion.
IRVINE, CA, September 02, 2009 /Aerospace - Aviation PR News/ -- Iris Technology, an Irvine, CA-based defense contractor specializing in military power systems and space electronics, has appointed Dr. Carl S. Kirkconnell as Chief Technology Officer. Iris Technology has seen annual revenue growth of 50 percent per year for the last five years. Kirkconnell will be responsible for sustaining this growth and advancing Iris' presence in these business sectors.
Kirkconnell is recognized internationally as an expert in spacecraft thermal control systems and has an esteemed record of innovation in the field, having been awarded eight U.S. patents and six pending in the area of cryogenic refrigerator design.

Kirkconnell brings 20 years experience in practical engineering, business development and management and has a particular expertise in space hardware, thermal sciences, Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) applications and cryogenics.
Prior to joining Iris, Kirkconnell held positions at Raytheon as Senior Fellow and Product Line Manager for the company's space cryocooler production and development programs and was lead technologist for all of Raytheon in spaceborne cryogenic system design. Kirkconnell also held positions with Irvine Sensors Corporation, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Data General Corporation.
He has lectured extensively at the University of California, Irvine and the University of Southern California and has authored over 30 published articles in the areas of thermal sciences and cryogenic engineering. Kirkconnell is the immediate Past President of the International Cryocooler Conference Board, holds a Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and is a licensed professional engineer in the State of California.
